Lena Fourie, photographer, in natural light

About

Hello, I'm Lena.

I picked up my father's old film camera at nineteen and never quite put it down. Twelve years, four hundred weddings and countless quiet portraits later, I still believe the best photograph in the room is the one nobody saw being taken.

I shoot with two quiet cameras, available light wherever possible, and a deep suspicion of the word “cheese”. My couples get me for the whole day — from the shaky-hands morning to the shoes-off dance floor.

When I'm not photographing people in love, I'm walking the mountain with my rescue greyhound, Blitz, or printing far too many photographs in my little darkroom.

The approach

How I work

01

Presence, not production

No posing marathons. I move quietly around your day and let it unfold — directing only when you want me to.

02

Light first

I choose moments by their light. It's why the photographs feel like memory rather than documentation.

03

Made to hold

Every commission ends in print — an album or box of fine-art prints. Photographs belong in hands, not just phones.

“The camera is an excuse to be somewhere you otherwise don't belong. It gives me both a point of connection and a point of separation.”
